Schwize (switerzerland)

Hi
last weekend was a long one for us(1st to 3rd os October). We had a holiday in Germany (German re-unification day)
we took the opportunity and went to Switzerland, or was it to heaven on earth. whatever you call it.
The entire country is like a picture postcard. Its extreemly beautiful. Its like the word 'Beautiful' materialised.
we did not have enogh time. we had only 3 days, so we had to plan very meticulously so that we make most of our trip.
firts day we went from Frankfurt to Zurich by train (intercity Express). Its a good 4 and half hour journey. and as soon as we reached Zurich
we took another train to Andermatt . we did not spend much time here, infact we just changed a train here. This is a very small place. But i heard most of our Indian movies which are shot in Switzerland are shot here.
Switzerland can be divided (dangerous word, but still we use it in the lighter sense) into four parts like Italian- , French-, German-, and Austrian Swiss.
Italian swiss has the major part of Alps. Andermatt falls in the Italian region. here they run a special train from St.Moritz(italian Swiss) to Zermatt . Its called Glacier express. It takes you through some awesome landscapes. 90 tunnels and 120 bridges. they call it the slowest fast train in the world (may be they have not seen our Indian trains !!!!) It stops in some great view points and they play commentry about the places. (most of the commentry is about some Ballets and plays which were shot here)
After reaching Zermatt we stayed in a youth Hostel. Zermatt is also a very small place on a hill. Its surronded by mountains. Its complete green in the town and surrounding it are mountains which are covered with snow. It looks alike silver capped mountains. Actually there is a mountain peak called Matterhorn Its shape is like an arc.
the train journey was too good, but we reached Zermatt in the afternoon. so we could not go to the peak. Its allowed only till3:30.
nevertheless we roamed in the zermatt town.
nextday we travelled to Interlaken. Its almost the centre of Switzerland from which most of the tourist places are easily accessible.
we immly went to the most popular tourist place in Switzerland JungfrauJoch. It was initailly cloudy, then started drizzling and by the time we were halfway uphill it started snowing.
by the time we reached the peak. it was snowing heavily. we couldnot take glacier walks and sports , but we went to the icecaves and all that stuff. This place is the highest point in Europe and is called top of Europe. On jungfraujoch peak is a Bollywoodrestaurant complete with posters of Bollywood starts and movies (it is open only from April to Sept end)
One more pleasant surprise was all the directions in the tourist places are in Hindi also, apart from English, German and some other European languages.
The third day was the best part of our trip. we went to Lucerne and from there went to Mount Titlis.
it was sunny, very bright sun. since it had snowd heavily a day before and today it was bight, the snow was reflecting the sunlight and the view was simply breathtaking.
There is a beautiful lake halfway up the mountain.
when we reached the top we could see the entire mountain range covered with snow and a small colourful town in the midst of mountains. for a moment I thought i was dreaming of heaven, then i thought OK it was a just a beautiful painting , but then seeing a painting will not make you feel freezing cold. It was mount Titlis and I was there on top of it (ofcourse not with the best of company one would expect to have in that place....hey Sandeep, swamy, Roy , Satish...sorry da...but Iam sure you were also thinking the same)
and remember this was the very place (the town) which was heavily flooded and houses were also filled with flood water in the ground floors. Railway lines were washed away and thrown apart. that too as recent as July month. But kudos to the govt there and the spirit of the Swiss people, its back to business and hardly you can see the damage anymore.

All in all I can say , I had a taste of heaven on earth.
